Chemfreight is an “outsource solution provider” with branches in East Tamaki, Auckland and Hornby, Christchurch. After the September 2011 quake their Hornby business was literally shaken to the core.
Their Hornby warehouse, was built from tilt slab panel construction. These concrete panels suffered considerable damage resulting in cracks ranging from 1-5mm on vertical panels and 2-7mm on the concrete floor.
After consultation with the engineers and insurance assessors, a Sika epoxy crack injection system, was specified and Topcoat Specialist Coatings South Island were selected to complete the re-strengthening work.
The scope included over 500 lineal metres of vertical crack injection repairs working around existing racking systems, floor repairs, and fire rated sealant application, where the previous sealant had been compromised in the quake.
Working closely with the Chemfreight logistics team, the work has been programmed around their freight movements, providing no disruption to their daily work load.
This project was completed in May 2012.
