Pat O'Donnell, the Production Engineer from Hubbards Foods, engaged Topcoat to resurface the front end and back end production areas. The front end wet area was a mis-match of existing toppings and uneven surfaces.
Starting in July and working in a tight 14 day window, the first stage was to remove and replace the existing open drains with slot drains. Once this demolition work was completed, the floors were shotblast to a clean etched profile, damaged concrete was cut out and reinstated with epoxy mortar, and a perimeter radius coving fitted.
Working around existing machinery, the BASF Ucrete 5-6mm non slip topping was applied. The heated resin allowed the product to flow, and create a seamless even floor topping across the whole wet end production area of 896m².
The back end dry section was diamond ground, and after floor repairs were completed, two roll on coats of BASF Mastertop 1080 were applied to 900m².
The BASF Ucrete DP6 system provided some unique advantages in this environment, including:
The following testimonial is from Pat O'Donnell, Quality Manager at Hubbards Foods Ltd.
"In order to maintain a production facility that gives us confidence in our premises and more importantly, gives our customers confidence in us, we needed to find a flooring solution that met with our requirements.
The project took some planning in that it was a two phase arrangement -
The Topcoat team were extremely helpful through the whole process. Even through the tendering stage, fair and unbiased advice was received.
The entire project was planned around very tight timelines and the team, who were under some pressure, delivered excellent results in a very positive and friendly manner. Best of all, delivered the project ahead of schedule.
As the Project Manager, I am extremely happy with the result. The feedback from everyone (staff, board members, customers) has been very positive.
This truly was "changing rooms", industrial style!
