Working in partnership with Fulton Hogan and Opus Consultants, Topcoat began work on the Clevedon Kawakawa Bridge in February 2010.
The challenges that this project presented included maintaining a clean, controlled working environment in order to protect debris from contaminating the river and banks. The crack injection work into hollow core beams, also provided some unique challenges in ensuring that the cracks were adequately filled.
The scope of works included scaffold erection courtesy of Camelspace, 400 lineal metres of crack injection utilising the TAM 210 and 310 systems, and application of the Mapei Elastocolour primer and anti carbonisation paint system to an area of 900 square metres.
The Mapei anti carbonisation coating on the underside of the bridge structure provides a protective impermeable film to water and protects against aggressive atmospheric agents.
