Working in partnership with Brian Perry Civil and Mapei, Topcoat Specialist Coatings has been engaged to apply the Mapelastic anti carbonation coating to an area of 16,800m².
This product is applied through cement pumps to protect and strengthen the existing concrete structure. The application includes work from scaffold cherry pickers, abseiling and mobile platforms, with crews working day and night shifts.
The original bridge was built in 1910. Part of the rectification process includes bridge strengthening, repainting, and anti graffiti application. Application work began in June 2009 and was completed in October 2009.
